I am an artist, writer, singer-songwriter, and I lived in East New York from 1958 thru 1972. I attended PS 213, PS 306 when it was newly built, and then George Gershwin Junior High School (IS 166). I was friends with Karen Guthertz, and still am, and for a brief time was also friendly with Laurie Gittelman (Gittleman), a pretty girl with long blond hair and big blue eyes and a nice singing voice. She was interested in theatre and performed the lead role of Eliza Doolittle in our 6th grade graduation play "My Fair Lady" at PS 306. Laurie's older sister (whose name I cannot recall) was responsible for introducing me to the music of the late great singer-songwriter Laura Nyro, whose music I perform regularly with a group called the Poetic Notion Chorus, directed by Rob Darnell. I am interested in connecting with Laurie Gittelman (Gittleman) or anyone who may know how to reach her. I hope she is well. Chillin in St. Rita's school yard, watching the crew in the schoolyard playing cards. I remember my other good friend, Frankie "Pickles" Saladino riding his moped, in the school yard. And I can't forget Highland Park !!! "Eddie" I remember Wednesdays were half a day and we would go to White Castle.Don't forget Carvel when Pickles worked there. LOL !!! . Those were the days... Most of all remember my house, 315 Lincoln Avenue?? With the big freezer, and the intercom .... LMAO !!! The crew I stood with remembers need I say more about that day ! Just one more thing about that day "Father Patrick" lol. Hey Jimmy Perrone, I remember me, you, Camille Sperandeo "my other dear friend", Pickles, and Chicky in your HOT Camero and going to Coney Island on the roller Coaster.
