If anyone has a recipe for them, I would appreciate it if you would share it with me. I live upstate now and while they have "fried dough" at fairs, it is nothing like those wonderful belly-bombers I remember from my Brooklyn days. Thanks in advance for the help. |

I grew up and spent a good deal of my life (1952-1986) in the ENY/Cypress Hills area of Brooklyn and the Woodhaven section of Queens. I Attended Franklin K. Lane AND attended JHS 149 ( I was very surprised to see those photos), Many of those photos brought back a ton of memories. |

I wish I were around during the times these photos were taken because it used to be so beautiful and so well taken care of. It's unfortunate that it has become what it is now. My parents still live in East New York, on Chestnut Court and Liberty Ave. Thank You so much for this website! It's wonderful! |

Many people hung out there, played cards, and placed bets, oh' and maybe bought a news paper, egg cream, and or, a 2 cent pretzel that you shared with our dog 'LOBO'. To all that pa**ed through our lives my entire family wants to just say thanks for making life growing up in Candy Store even sweeter. |

I lived at 431 Ess** St. between Pitkin and Liberty and went to St. Rita's up until the 5th grade. My sister Antoinette and I grew up surrounded by extended family. Our grandmother and great-grandmother lived right across the street and my other grandmother lived just a few blocks away right across the street from St. Rita's Church. What a wonderful way to grow up! Thank you, everyone for sharing your memories and helping me take a walk down memory lane. God Bless Brooklyn! |
