I lived at 260 Ess** St directly across frm St Rita's the old church, then at 270 Ess** St. until my parents bought a house at 457 Shepherd Ave. lived there until 1972 when we finally left for Woodhaven. my parents were in Woodhaven till my dad decided to sell and they ended up in N. Valley Stream. Perhaps we may have known each other but your last name is not familiar. I didn't wind up at the 75th that night...for me that was to come a couple of weeks later. Picked up with a couple of friends while sitting on a bench on the hill above the baseball fields doing "something". Joey, you rode up from the fields to see what was happening and then spread the word. I still think that if my head had been on "straight"(LOL!), I coulda/shoulda/woulda outrun the those plainclothes cops! |

BETWEEN Belmont and Sutter Ave, until 1965 when our family moved to Ozone Park.I attended Berriman J.H.S.64 and then Franklin K. Lane.I remember going to the movies on PITKIN and Berriam ST. ONCE A WEEK ON DISH NIGHT! (My mother completed her dish set) Sometimes after school I would go with my friend Sophie (Who's father had a push cart on Blake Ave) to Moe'S For a hot dog or a Knish.Does any one remember the pizza store on Pitkin ave around the corner from 64 one morning the owner opened the store and there must have been a GAS leak, that was it the store was gone and he died everyone who hung out there went to his Funeral.I use to hang out at L.P.(L.P.T.)back in the day I was called Cricket.Over the years I'VE ran into some people from L.p. like, Babe, BO AND BASSO who by the way gave this site to me.I hope every one else out there is fine and healthy.I REMEMBER hanging out in the ice cream parlor on Pitkin & ATKINS they had great egg creams!.On friday nights me my sister DONNA ,SOPHIE and my cousin MARYANN would go to ST. michaels DANCE for 50 cents.I remember seeing JOHNNY MATHIS ,there every week it was someone else.we use to go to BRANT'S ice cream parlor on PITKIN AVE AND VAN SICLIAN ( We hung out there to)I dated a guy from there his name was JIMMY Callahan I remember he had a sister with realy long red hair.Any way him and his group would sing at ST. MICHAELS he would sing "CRYING" AND he would cry and even use a handkerchief ,he would tear up the place after the dance was over at 11:00 p.m. we would go to L.P. and hang out.I was always in trouble with my parents I was suppose to be out side the church but I WASN'T.
