Date: Thu 02/28/08 11:06AM From: John Email: Deaconjms@aol.com Message: I lived on Lincoln Ave from birth (1952) to 1969. Attended PS 171 and Blessed Sacramant Church (Fr Krieg was grouchy a lot). Hung out at Wilkens ice cream parlor (rarely Longs), got 15 cent slices of pizza at Jack's on Fulton St. Went to Cypress Pool, Haven, Emba**y and Earl theaters. Joned a monastery on Staten Island in 1969, and got transferred to Ohio, Western NY and Michigan, where I stayed after leaving the order. Eventually became a deacon and a lawyer. We used to play ball in the street by the "stoneyard" at the foot of Lincoln, near Jamaica. Miss the old 'hood a lot, but it sure has changed. |
