I lived ay 363 Elton St Bet Pitkin and Glenmore. Spent many many days and hours hanging out in Liberty Park in all of the 50'and very early sixties. WE had lots of guys and girls in our group before the Liberty Tots etc. Remember Marcy and Al Yevoli who I have recognized in past guest book entries. In 1957, they bought a house at the corner of Belmont & Elton Sts. I was born in 1958, attended PS 158 at Ashford & Belmont Aves. Witnessed rioting in 1964 & '68, the neighborhood burn down around us in the late '60's, early '70's. My sisters went to Maxwell H.S. on Pennsylvania Ave in the early '60's & Berriman H.S. My brother graduated from F.K. Lane in 1969. I was bussed to Glendale starting in '67/'68. Attended JHS 168, graduated from grover Cleveland H.S. in 1976. Chose to go to college upstate to get out of ENY during this tumultuous time. Finally moved out of ENY in 1988. |

I graduated in 1965 and had Sister Carlotta in the sixth grade. When you did something wrong or even if she thought you did she would say I will box your ears and warm your face. I recieved many a face warming and you should see my ears. I recall that Sr Carlotta pa**ed away and all the students had to attend the funeral and recieved the rest of the day off. Anyone out there have any memories from that school and crescent and pine street. |
