I AM SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE PEOPLE WE KNOW IN COMMON. MY MAIDEN NAME WAS CAPPADORA. WE LIVED ON LINWOOD ST. ONE HOUSE AWAY FROM THE SPERANDEO BROS. VETRANS CLUB.IT WAS THE TUDOR WITH THE BLACK PICKET FENCE. THERE WERE ALWAYS FLOWERS IN BLOOM. IT HAD THE BIGGEST FIG TREE ON THE BLOCK. THE ONLY TIME WE SEEM TO SEE SOME OF THE PEOPLE FROM THE OLD NEIGHBORHOOD IS AT A WAKE. I SAW NANYANN AND HER FAMILY WHEN HER AUNT MARY MARCHETTI PASSED AWAY. I KNEW ANDRE MARCHETTI AND HIS WIFE CAROL. CAROLS MAIDEN NAME IS JOYA. LOOK FORWARD TO ANY UPDATE ON THE PALMA FAMILY. GIVE MY BEST TO WHO MAY REMEMBER MY PARENTS, BILL AND JOSIE CAPPADORA. Would that be Lillian and Charlie Palma ? If so Charlie is my Cousin. Before he married Lillian he lived on Cleveland St. Between Glenmore and Pitkin. Those were great times. Are you related to the Abbracciamento,s who owned the Restuarant on Liberty Ave. or was it Glenmore Ave. Liberty Park was my seconed home, back in the 50,s |

Date: Wed 08/29/07 8:45PM From: BETTY ABBRACCIAMENTO Email: BMENTO@VERIZON.NET Message: HI NANCYANN! was speaking with my cousin Carrie Blanda and she told me about this incredible WEBSITE. Reading all the names bring back the warmest of memories for all of us who lived there at a great time. I still can see the girls in front of Lillian and Charlies house playing BOYS AND GIRLS and potsie as well. It was the same group most of the time, Kathy Noto, Claire Grasso, You and myself. We spent many a summer day rolling that ball or pitching a key chain onto a potsie court we had drawn with chalk. They were the best days, innocent and having fun. Have you ever been in touch with Claire. I often wonder where she is. I can still see the tropical fish tank that was always so crystal clear in her living room. |
Date: Wed 08/29/07 5:27PM From: Rick Email: tapeshare@yahoo.com Message: Tony&Al I recall "Double Ace no higher" gave you top spot for starters- we called it "Kings" as well as "chinese handball". Spelling out "K-i-n-g-s" meant you were knocked out and faced "booties". "Elevators" was also known as "skyscrapers" and was a strategy of bouncing the ball high parallel to the wall. 'babies' was an alternate technique, played close and low to the wall. "Hindu", of course, was the called do-over when the ball struck something on the wall or the ground. Let's test those punchball and touch football fans- who recalls the terms 'no CBO' and 'no angeling'? |
Date: Wed 08/29/07 4:03PM From: Tony Davenport Email: Tonyd24@yahoo.com Message: Al: I don't know that one but it reminded me that when we played "Ace, King, Queen" also known as Chinese handball, the loser faced "Booties" which meant you bent over against the wall and all the players got to try and hit you in the booty with the ball. I wasn't real good at Ace ing Queen so I hated Booties. |
