Even though most of us don't live in ENY anymore, it doesn't matter where you go, when you strike up a conversation with people and they tell you they came from ENY, to a person they have such great memories and you get to talking to them like you've known them forever. I guess those bonds never break. I wouldn't give growing up there for the world. Just today I had to order flowers for a funeral and got to talking to Tony Sparacino, owner of Father & Son Florist on Metropolitan Ave. Wouldn't you know he's an ENY guy. So much fun talking about some of the neighborhood landmarks like the Cypress Pool and St. Rita's church. I think we're all lucky having ENY as our growing up place. |

The Fourth One long hot summer in Philly They came to decide their fates "Do we remain a British Colony Or become a United States!" Educators, Lawyers and a general Men from all walks of life Arguing Our mother country is too dictatorial And we have to sever our ties! Jefferson, Hamilton and Washington Adams, Hanc*** and Franklin Morris, Lewis and Harrison Rutledge, Wythe and Hopkins Some names of our forefathers Who came to this simple logic A bill of rights is what really matters For citizens of the new republic! So they wrote and signed a declaration "Freedom first or else we die!" "We will be an independent nation" Thus we were born on the Fourth of July! Mario Zambrano |
