Hi Phyllis,

I think the two people you were referring to was Terry Briglia and Johnny Mazziota, they married and moved to California many years ago. Johnny was a ladies man, tall and good looking, but had a bad heart. Someone recently called me for a reunion and said John had passed away a couple of years ago, I can't confirm that though.

Message: Excuse me, an older sister (not system). I think her name was Ro or Rosalie.

This guy Johnny seemed to think (from what I gathered) that he was a casanova and a heartbreaker. Anyone out there remember him?

Thanks.

Message: Does anyone remember a girl named Terry, she had black hair and very thin. She dated a guy named Johnny and he had an older system, whom I worked with. I think they either came from ENY or cityline.

Message: TO ANTHONY RITSUA:

I THINK YOUR MOM LIVED IN THE SAME BUILDING AS MY AUNT MARY ON ELTON STREET. I THINK THEY WERE NEIGHBORS. YOUR MOTHER WAS CALLED BABY ANN IF I REMEMBER RIGHT. TRUDY FERRARA, THERESA AND JUDY LIVED DOWNSTARIS. WE ALL KNEW YOUR COUSIN SNOOKIE. HE MARRIED CAROL. THAT SEEMS LIKE YEARS AND YEARS AGOL...GUESS IT WAS. THOSE WERE GREAT DAYS AND WONDERFUL FRIENDSHIPS WERE MADE THEN THAT WILL NEVER DIE. WE MAY NOT HAVE HAD MUCH, BUT WE HAD EACH OTHER......WOULD NOT CHANGE THOSE DAYS FOR ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD. PLEASE TELL YOUR MOM THAT MARY AND OTTO WERE MY AUNT AND UNCLE. I AM SURE SHE LIVED DIRECTLY ACROSS THE HALL FROM THEM. DON'T KNOW IF SHE WOULD REMEMBER ME. IT WAS A VERY LONG TIME AGO.

YOU ARE RIGHT, THIS IS THE GREATEST WEBSITE THAT ANYONE COULD HAVE GIVEN US.

Message: To Anthony Ritsua.
Anthony, your uncle Snooky and I were good friends, we were like brothers, we even dressed alike. When we were 15-16 we would play hookey from school and go on deliveries with your father, if I remember correctly, he drove a truck for Sheper Toys? Your uncle and I drifted apart when we were around 17, he wound up getting married and I started to stay with a different crowd, I was devastated when he died! Say hello to your father for me, not sure if he remembers me but he should remember the deliveries, oh yeah, we stole his car once, he almost killed you uncle, he should remember that!?

Message: First, I'd like to give a big thanks to Rick Gomes for this great website. I lived on Elton Street between Liberty & Atlantic (across from Liberty Park) but moved to Long Island when I was 8 years old because the city took over the block to build the public school in 1968. I went to St. Rita's through 2nd grade and would have been in the graduating class of 1974. I had Miss Dorothy for Kindergarden, Sister Paul Maura in 1st grade and Sister Michelle Marie in 2nd grade. I remember both nuns being very nice. Both my parents grew up in the neighborhood as did much of my extended family. Many of the names and places on this website are familiar because I have heard my parents mention them over the years. I also have a keen memory of the neighborhood even though I was quite young when we moved. My mom is Anne (Mannelli) Ritsua. She was born at 246 Elton Street and went to St. Rita's. My aunt is Marie (Mannelli) and also went to St. Rita's. My grandparents were Antionette a/k/a Nettie (Carillo) and Steve Mannelli. My grandmother was born on Elton St. on the side of the street that the park was built on. Her parents owned a grocery store on the block and the family lived upstairs. My grandfather moved to ENY when he was a teenager. My dad is Anthony (Tony) Ritsua. He grew up on Montauk Ave and Pitkin and also went to St. Rita's. My grandparents were Edith and Frank Rizzuto. My aunts are Marilyn (Ritsua) Klebonas, Laura (Rizzuto) and Trudy (Ferrara) Rizzuto (deceased). My uncles are Frank a/k/a Snooky Ritsua (deceased), Gerard Rizzuto, Michael Rizzuto and Richie Klebonas. My father and his brothers and sisters all went to St. Rita's as well. The name Ritsua was eventually changed to Rizutto but the three older siblings kept the name Ritsua, hence the different last names. My parents and aunts and uncles are all doing well and there are many people from the old neighborhood that my parents keep in touch with. Down the road, I will send in some pictures that we have. Again, thanks for this great website.
