My mom referred to them as the "barracks" We also lived on 5th walk. Our address was 25c. I remember our neighbors, the Blocks and the Altmans, and I also remember the name Dr Bursen. He was our doctor. We lived there in the late '40's. We moved when I was going to kindergarten ( I remember the big green play blocks; I think the teacher's name was Black or Blatz or similar) to Breuklen Housing. |

My parents grew up in East New York and would always talk about their good memories of their neighborhoods. My father, Frank Barbaro grew up on Glenmore Ave and my mom Alvira (Vera) Finnell on Fulton Street between Schenck and Barbey. Later on my maternal grandparents moved to Nichols Ave and Jamaica Ave and I remember that area in the 70s and 80s. |

We (my parents, sister, and myself) lived at 450 New Lots Ave from 1961 to 1970. Went to PS 213 from K to 3 and then PS 260 for 4th and 5th grades. We were across the street from Nino's pizza and the Biltmore was a block away. Hello ENY! |

Don't know if anyone else from that cla** remembers this, but she took some of us to the World's Fair after school and then just left us there. How we found our way home I'll never know, just remember making our way to the Atlantic Avenue Bus and getting off at the correct stop. Remember my parents taking a fellow student named Novella (don't recall her last name) home and her mother pulling her into the house and slamming the door in my mother's face thinking my mother was the one who kept her out so late. We love to hear from any fellow students who recall that event. |
