Date: Wed 11/2/11 6:22PM From: Steve Cohen Email: buzz5571@gmail.com Message: It is sad to report that Abraham Lincoln Junior High School will close next September. I was in the cla** of '58 and my picture lies here with 9sp1 a group of highly motivated bright boys and girls who went on to do big things. I was in a two year SP cla** and loved my time at 171. I went on to be a teacher in the same district (19) at I.S. 292 and eventually a new york city principal for a number of years, now retired. They may take down the bricks but they will never take away the fond memories I had during my two years there. The school is one of a number of schools that is closing due to poor test results. I salute all the former teachers, students and administrators who had success at this wonderful school. |

I graduated 171 in 1961 also, but entered the 9th grade very late in the school year. I really didn't have the opportunity to make many friends or remember names. I didn't attend FK Lane. |

Back in the early sixties I would spend a lot of time there with a cherry coke and a bag of chips!! I remember Ronnie O'hara and his sister Eileen - Maureen Quinlin, Jeanette, Kevin and George Stutsky (sp?) I am in contact with Joe Fodera who lived across the street from Herbies. An old flame!! LOL. If you are the same Ray - please say hi. This site is wonderful!! |
