Message: Just a thought regarding the shots that you have of Atlantic Avenue Looking East. The 1st phots, I'm not exactly sure of the location, but I believe that it would be looking toward Georgia Avenue. The building on the lower right of the phot seems to be the diner that has been on the corner since I was a kid back in the 60s.

As for the second picture, the 4 or 5 story building with the flag on the roof, is definitely the building which is still standing on Williams Avenue, which was used as a daycare center in the 70s.

Message: As for the 4th picture on The bHouse Of Good Shepherd page, the view is from Pacific Street, looking southwest toward Rockaway Ave. at the left of the picture & toward Dean St. at the bottom right of the picture.

If you'd like, I can take & send you shots of these perspectives as they appear today.

Message: I just wanted to point out a mistake regarding the orientation of a couple of the pictures of The House of The Good Shepherd. The two views which appear on the Zone 1 page are off.

The black & white postcard is actually the entrance on Hopkinson Avenue, between Dean & Pacific Streets. The color picture from 2006 actually shows the view of 216 Rockaway Avenue & is not the entrance as oriented in most pictures of the home.

The entrance of shown in the black & white photo would actually be positioned on the opposite side of the color picture, looking from East to West.

I moved from Warwick St & Glenmore Ave in 1969 & still live around the corner from this location. Actually, if you were to take the picture on the House Of Good Shepherd page & were able to take just a few steps back, you'd be able to see the entrance on Hopkinson Ave, as it appears in the post card.

I have a few pictures from back then, which include the shot of the schoolyard of P.S. 178, which show that perspective.

In a related note, that store on the corner of Dean St, is still standing & though repaved, the schoolyard & surrounding building look relatively the same today.

Message: Roy,
OMG! I was just telling my kids about that. My beany flew off when I was crossing Atlantic Avenue. My knee socks were soaked and Mrs. Weis made me take them off and put them on the radiator in that basement cla**room. Guess they didn't think it was bad enough to close the schools. Come to think of it they hardly ever closed for bad weather! Those were special times.
