Date: Thu 08/18/11 8:46PM From: John Email: deaconjms@aol.com Message: Went back to the old neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. We drove around remembering what used to be there, that no longer is - Wilkins Ice Cream Parlor, Crescent Bakery, Hess's Luncheonette, Matty's Meats, Tilotta's, Cypress Pool. I did stop in Blessed Sacrament - it looks smaller than I remember (from when I was smaller), but still as beautiful. My brother took me to see Houdini's grave, too, just across the parkway from my father's grave. i must have been the only person from Cypress hills who didn't know where Houdini was buried until years after I moved away. |
