May God reward these teachers of mine at St. Rita's School who helped form part of the Cla** of 1969: Miss Dorothy, Sr. Marie Julie, Sr. Lourdette, Miss Rhodes, Sr. Mary Janita, Mrs. Anne Langan, Sr. Kristin Marie, Mr. Frank Nostramo, and Sr. Mary Andrina. |

Date: Tue 02/15/11 9:26PM From: Michael Raffio Email: michael.raffio@gmail.com Message: It's sad news to hear that St. Rita's School will be merging with St. Michael's. (No offense to St. Michael's.)This is the unfortunate state of Catholic schools today. Nationally, 300 Catholic schools closed in 2010 and that has been the average for the past 5 years as well. We all had different experiences (good and bad) but we'll never forget them or the friends we grew up with. For Catholics in those days, the Church and, by extension, the school were the center of our lives. Almost every social event was held there and many of us were so deeply involved that these were our second homes. It's always hard to say Goodbye to something that really was such a dear and central part of our lives. Thank you to all those teachers and principals - nuns and lay people - who dedicated themselves to our education. No one is perfect but they did a wonderful job and many of us who come to this site wouldn't be who we are without them. Bill Geasor, principal for the past 34 years has continued this tradition and St. Rita's School has been an oasis for so many parents seeking a quality education for their children. Thanks, Bill. We'll miss you, St. Rita's. |
