Date: Wed 02/9/11 1:22PM From: Carter Email: cart49@comcast.net Message: Rick - Just a few things to add. On 2 Etna Street, the Ketchem's lived there. I use to deliver there morning paper. On the "Etna Club" or the "Compa** Club, I remember two caretakers. Mr & Mrs Tiedemann who had 3 children Johnny, Danny and Ann. After them were Mr & Mrs Moore who had a son Warren Moore. They were also the caretaker, for a while, at the Arlington Cemetary on Jamaica & Hale. Prior to the Moore's, the Scraton's were the caretakers at the Arlington Cemetary. They moved here from Tenn. They had two sons Willie & Rodney. There was a bowling alley at the compa** club. A few of us use to set pins when there were bowling tournaments. There was also be a very large walk in refrigerator stocked with beer. On occasion we use to raid the refrigerator and drink the Ballantine Ale. Great Stuff. |

My grandfather was Dr. Edward May M.D. he lived at the corner of Schenck Ave. and Arlington Ave. The mysterious room at the peak of 149 Jerome St. had been used as a sewing room prior to my dad purchasing the house. We used the room for storage. I sure would like to see a posting of Fulton St. between Jerome and Warwick. ( Great to see the Blanda's and Pinky and the rest of the Grebels. |
